As well as delivering key services we have set out an ambitious, bold and inspiring vision of Colchester by 2030. This is backed by an investment package supporting schemes tackling climate change, enhancing economic growth so everyone benefits, supporting health and wellbeing, improving homes and making the borough an even more attractive destination. These projects include:

  • £19.2 million through the Town Deal for projects across the borough including supporting regeneration plans for Jumbo, St Nicholas Square, Holy Trinity (Saxon Tower) and many others.
  • £19.66 million through the Levelling Up Fund to help tackle inequalities and improvements to the city centre including walking and cycling routes and a new road layout at St Botolph’s roundabout and more.
  • £1.36 million through the Shared Prosperity Fund which supports organisations across the city to support businesses, communities and health including community supermarkets, domestic abuse victim support, educational programmes and others.
  • £500,000 through the Rural England Prosperity Fund to support new and existing rural businesses to develop new products and facilities to benefit the wider local economy.
  • Transforming the former bus depot in Queen Street into a creative and digital hub for existing businesses to continue to grow and develop.
  • Delivering the largest investment in Greenstead for a generation including the development of affordable new homes, an expanded community hub and attractive public space.
