A development site, located on United Way next to David Lloyd and opposite Travelodge, has transferred into Lidl GB's ownership following completion of a sale.
The sale followed a highly competitive marketing process that attracted strong market interest, with multiple parties bidding for the site and higher offers increased through successive rounds. This helped ensure the council achieved best value and demonstrated strong confidence in Northern Gateway and Colchester as a place to invest.
The transaction marks another significant milestone for Northern Gateway, which continues to attract investment as the area develops as a destination for residents, businesses and visitors.
Any future proposals for the site would be subject to the normal planning process, including the submission and determination of any necessary planning applications.
Continued confidence in Northern Gateway
As part of the transaction, Lidl has brought a portion of the wider site to the market for future development opportunities. The move demonstrates confidence in Northern Gateway's future and could help attract further investment to the area.
Northern Gateway is already home to Colchester Leisure Park, Colchester Sports Park and park and ride facilities, and continues to play an important role in the city's growth.
