Final chance to share views on bus travel across Colchester

The survey is part of the new Colchester Bus Growth Partnership

Residents have just two weeks left to help shape the future of bus travel in Colchester by taking part in a survey exploring how people travel around the city and surrounding area.

As plans for a new bus station continue to be discussed, this separate survey is gathering views on what works well, what doesn't, and what improvements could encourage more people to use the bus.

Help us understand how people travel
The survey is part of the new Colchester Bus Growth Partnership, a year-long project bringing together local authorities, bus operators and other organisations to better understand how people travel around Colchester and what could encourage more people to choose the bus. The project aims to increase bus use by identifying barriers to bus travel and developing targeted improvements and promotional campaigns based on local people’s feedback.

We want to hear from everyone
The partnership wants to hear from both current bus users and people who rarely or never travel by bus. While regular passengers can highlight what's working well and what could be improved, hearing from non-users is equally important in understanding what puts people off choosing the bus.

Whether concerns relate to routes, reliability, convenience, cost or access to information, the feedback will help identify practical ways to improve local bus services and encourage more people to consider travelling by bus in future.

Your feedback will help shape future improvements
The survey forms part of a three-month research and engagement programme running from August to October 2026, gathering views from residents, schools, workplaces, young people and communities across both urban and rural areas.

Cllr Andrea Luxford Vaughan, Portfolio Holder for Planning and Sustainable Development, said: “We want to hear from as many people as possible, whether you use the bus regularly or not at all. Your feedback will help us better understand how people travel around Colchester and what improvements could encourage more people to choose the bus in future.”z

The survey is open until 31 October 2026 and can be completed here: https://forms.cloud.microsoft/e/yqNZMMfQp9
