Leisure World Colchester is expanding its popular Learn to Swim programme with the launch of two new weekly Adult & Child classes designed to help babies and toddlers develop early water confidence and essential swimming skills.

Starting 15 April, sessions will run every Wednesday from 12–1pm at Leisure World Colchester.

New weekly class times:

  • 12:00pm – 12:30pm: Adult & Baby (4 months – 2 years)
  • 12:30pm – 1:00pm: Adult & Toddler (2 – 4 years)

These welcoming, instructor‑led sessions provide a safe, fun, and encouraging environment for parents and carers to enjoy quality bonding time in the water with their little ones. Classes support early physical development, coordination, and confidence, while helping children feel comfortable and relaxed in the pool.

These new classes have been added due to demand and complement Leisure World’s Learn to Swim pathway, which follows Swim England guidance to help children progress confidently through every stage.

Cllr Martin Goss, Portfolio Holder for Waste, Neighbourhoods, and Leisure at Colchester City Council, said: “We’re delighted to offer even more opportunities for families to get active together. These new sessions are perfect for helping babies and toddlers gain early water confidence while giving adults the chance to enjoy a fun, gentle activity with their child.”
