Colchester Castle invites you to journey back to Ancient Rome, 54 AD, for a night of scheming, scandal and suspense at its upcoming Roman‑themed Murder Mystery Night on Saturday 18 April. Set within the dramatic surroundings of Europe’s largest Norman keep, and with the Castle’s atmospheric galleries as your backdrop, this immersive after‑hours experience promises intrigue from the moment the story begins.

Guests will step into the unpredictable world of Emperor Claudius, where hidden motives, curious relationships and unexpected twists fuel a fast‑paced, laugh‑filled mystery performed by professional actors. As the story unfolds, you’ll find yourself drawn deeper into a colourful Roman tale packed with lively characters, sharp humour and secrets waiting to be uncovered.

The evening begins at 7.30pm with fizz and light nibbles, before the mystery gets underway at 8.15pm. A licensed bar will be open throughout, ensuring the perfect mix of refreshments and entertainment as you piece together clues and attempt to identify the culprit.

Whether you arrive in full Roman finery or simply bring your sharpest detective instincts, you’ll be part of an unforgettable night where the drama unfolds around you – and you might just be the one to crack the case.

Tickets are £35 per person, and the event is strictly for ages 18+.
