Residents are being encouraged to make the most of the Leisure Pool at Leisure World Colchester before it temporarily closes on 28 September 2026 for a programme of refurbishment and improvement works. The works follow the recent announcement of a significant investment in the facility, with a range of improvements planned to enhance the customer experience and help ensure the pool remains a popular destination for families and swimmers for years to come.
Enjoy the Leisure Pool before the refurbishment begins
With the Leisure Pool set to close temporarily for refurbishment on 28 September, there is still an opportunity for residents and visitors to enjoy family swims, rides on the flumes and time in the pool before works begin.
The improvement programme will include pool relining works, upgraded changing facilities, improvements to the flumes, upgraded water features and a new splash pad. These improvements will help refresh the facility and enhance the overall experience for customers when it reopens in early 2027.
Preparation works are already underway, with scaffolding now being erected to enable improvements to the external sections of the flumes. As a result, the rapids have now closed and will remain unavailable until the Leisure Pool reopens next year. All other areas of the Leisure Pool remain open for customers to enjoy before the refurbishment begins.

The Leisure Pool will close from 28 September 2026 and is expected to reopen in early 2027. Other facilities at Leisure World Colchester will remain open and operating as normal throughout the refurbishment period. Customers will continue to receive updates on the progress of the works via the Leisure World website and social media channels.
